Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)

Looking for a life-skill training program for children? Check out our Equine Assisted Learning Program offered here at Whispering Hope Farm.

What is Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)?

To put it simply, Equine Assisted Learning is a learner based educational experience with horses. More specifically, EAL is an effective approach to human development that encourages individual and team growth. Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses. EAL has proven to be effective, powerful, positive, educational and creative.

EAL exercises are developed to encourage self confidence through validated, hands on experiences. Current research has found this experiential form of learning to be most effective.

Why Horses?

Horses are tough and stead fast dance partners. Horses consistently react to stimulus provided by participants. Some of the joys associated with working around horses are - they don't judge but they constantly assess. Their feedback in honest and instant.

Learning to listen to what horses have to say is powerful and can sometimes spur the answer to individual change. By including horses in specially designed educational exercises, equine-assisted faciliators have greatly multiplied how participants rate of success to self discovery. How?? Horses can magnify an individual's problem immediately and provide a skilled facilitator with an opportunity to identify an individuals character. Horses don't over think a participants motive but horses do challenge their behavior and leadership.

Equine Assisted Learning is a life-skill training and personal development program that uses experiential learning with horses and the Cartier Building Block EAL Curriculum delivered by trained, and certified facilitators.

The programs objectives are to help participants: Develop self-awareness, self confidence, and social emotional skills; Connect with horses; and learn and practice life skills including relationship-building, communication, teamwork, empathy, problem solving and leadership.

Come experience EAL, where the horse is our teacher.
