Howdy, we are the MacIntyre's! We are a family of five, live in the beautiful community of Tyne Valley, PEI Canada. We are so grateful to share our farm with you.
A little about ourselves: I grew up in the beautiful community of Tyne Valley, the village that "loves oysters". My parents are fisherman/fisherwomen. Summers were spent on the water with early memories of swimming at the shore; searching for little fish, sand shrimp, snails , collecting cool shells and rocks. Although I was brought up into a fishing family/community... I was also brought up on a hobby farm with: horses, 4H project ponies, goats, family cow, chickens, ducks, and bunnies and cant forget the sweetest barn cats. Later in my childhood my dad found a love for the horse racing community. He shared his love for horses with me. Weekends were spent at the track watching the horse races. Time was well spent at the barns with my dad, watching trainers train our horses around the track, experiencing our broodmares giving birth to beautiful little foals, and learning how to care for our animals. My dad instilled in me responsibility through caring for our animals, with the radio turned up in the barn we would muck out stalls, scrub buckets, sweep the barn ally and I will forever remember the feeling of completing each stall and providing our animals with clean bedding, fresh water, and hay & grain. Welcoming our horses back into their stalls was my favorite. Listening to them chew their hay brought a calmness that one would have to experience to understand it.
My husband Cody grew up in the same community on his families Dairy Farm, pushing in feed, milking cows, harvesting fields and fixing up equipment. Cody now is a fisherman who enjoys spending his days out on the water fishing for wild oysters and smelling the sweet salty air.
In 2011 we purchased our home. It was advertised as a hobby farm... We knew that someday we would have a little farm to call our own. In 2021 we welcomed our first two ponies, which organically through time grew into two goats, then two sheep, a cow, 2 miniature horses, 2 donkeys, chickens, ducks, bunnies...
We had something so special that we knew we couldn't just keep it all to ourselves. People in our community would reach out to ask if they could stop by with their families, and some of our community members would mention that we should open up a "petting farm".
Summer of 2022 I officially opened my barn doors to our Community & Tourism for Farm Tours. We offer Tours to many groups in our community: Seniors visits, Strength Programs, Transition Students, Schools, Community Connections, Youth Groups, and Tourists who are touring around the western end of our beautiful island. Once school started in September I began my Animal Assisted Learning Program which is an After School Program for Ellerslie Elementary Students & Bloomfield Elementary Students. I created a unique program that incorporated animals, nature, and art class. We started hosting Unique Community Events as the seasons changed, later on we started to travel across PEI with our animals to Seniors Homes, Daycares, Schools, and surrounding communities to be apart of their Community Events. This little farm sure does keep me busy.
Fast-forward to 2025, we offer many unique service to our community.
